They say that you should never choose a record based by its cover alone and that is certainly the case with the latest effort from New England quintet Vanna. The artwork is seriously amazing and whoever designed it definitely deserves recognition. I only wish I could say this for the music, unfortunately it sounds like a collection of tunes from any other band that passes as post hardcore nowadays. “Let’s Have an Earthquake” starts off with a very quietly strummed electric guitar before the drums and power chords kick in. Of course the power chords are also open, palm muted and tuned in dropped D. There are even some gang vocals and of course, the band chooses the sing, scream formula, which the other eleven tracks follow flawlessly. Nothing we haven’t heard before and it certainly isn’t as good as the records written by some of their peers that happen to have discs produced by Steve Evetts as well. If this is your type of thing, then chances are good that Vanna won’t disappoint but if you’re looking for something more, steer clear.

Final Verdict? 2/5
