Album: Propagandhi – Supporting Caste

Release Date: March 10, 2009 on Smallman

Everyone’s favourite anti-capitalist Winnipeg punks are back with Supporting Caste. Fans of Fat Wreck/Bill Stevenson produced melodic punk will love this record but what really set this band apart from the others are their lyrics. Pissed off and overly political, you’ll be amazed just how easily you can sing along with something to deep and thought out. Also regardless of whether you actually agree with this band and their views, you can’t deny that it is a well crafted punk record. “Potemkin City Limits” is a straight up pop punk song while “Incalculable Effects” is much more closer to thrash metal. The drums in particular are played at a ridiculously fast speed. The final tune “Last Will and Testament” is one of the better songs, the opening instrumental shows off the fact that these guys are good musicians and the song clocks in over 5 minutes filled with awesome crunchily distorted guitar lines. The absolute best part though has got to be the completely unexpected hidden track, a cover of “Come to the Sabbat” by Black Widow. Seriously, Propagandhi take home the award for the best hidden track ever.

Final Verdict?

4/5
